Mike Kyd

With over sixteen years of recruitment experience to draw on, from both agency and internal recruiting functions, there are not many facets to the recruitment industry I haven’t been exposed to. I believe this gives me a very well rounded and unbiased view when liaising with both clients and candidates alike, being able to empathise, understand, question and deliver a quality solution that is right for any specific mandate. I am a strong believer in building relationships with trust and honesty at their core.

Having a BAME background I am passionate about diversity in the workplace, challenging the status quo and helping society progress so that future generations are faced with a level playing field no matter what your ethnicity.

Throughout my career to date I have worked in large corporate environments for leading global banks, and smaller boutique recruitment firms, managing successful sales teams and also working within a 360 recruitment capacity. This experience has shaped the ability I have to work closely with clients and candidates, tailoring solutions to best fit the requirements to hand and giving honest impartial advice, with the ultimate aim of delivering success and client/candidate satisfaction.
Building Partnerships

I believe in building true partnerships by getting to know and understand client values and candidates motivations, and through this making positive connections. I'm not motivated by short-term gain, but by adding real value and impact to those I ame luckily enough to work with.

I believe in doing the basics and doing them well, ensuring I fully understand the client need so that I can properly represent them in the market place. I also believe in matching the right individual to the right organisation, for the long-term benefit of both parties, therefore if a role isn't right I won't oversell to look good in the short-term. I believe relationships are built on trust, trust is built on a quality service.

It all started when…
​
After spending twelve years working within agency recruitment, delivering technology and change professionals primarily within financial services, I decided to take some time out and change my focus.
In 2014 I set up Castle Thorpe Consulting with the aim of working with major corporates on recruitment strategy and process, helping to deliver internal services and process improvements to current resourcing functions. During this period I was lucky enough to work with Barclays, Barclaycard, FIS Global and UBS, gaining a great understanding of the inner workings of resourcing functions, their strategies, the pressures they are put under and the challenges they face when securing and managing talent.
After five years’ gaining such exposure I am now well equipped and better prepared to expand my services to focus on the delivery of talent, as I understand the candidate market place and also the client journey.
